Cedar Lake, Indiana is a town full of potential. Located in Northwest Indiana, the Town of Cedar Lake is just 45 minutes from downtown Chicago, within commuting distance to the industries of Gary, East Chicago, and Hammond, and less the a half hour from Southlake Mall and other Merrillville and Hobart shopping areas.
Future: Cedar Lake is the next big Chicagoland growth story. Plans are in the works to bring a South Shore train station to the northwest side of the lake, making for an easy commute for city workers that live on one of the largest inland lakes in the Chicago area. Plus, the train will allow Cedar Lake residents to visit the museums, zoo, aquarium, and sport venues of the Windy City.
The Army Corps. of Engineers has plans to dredge Cedar Lake, hopefully in 2010.
